Dr. Robert F. LaPrade, orthopedic knee surgeon and sports medicine specialist in Vail, Colorado, was recently honored by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the profession of orthopaedic surgery. This recognition, presented to Dr. LaPrade for his 2012 contributions, honors orthopaedic surgeons who volunteer their time and energy to the AAOS and the entire orthopaedic community, as well as encourages younger members to become involved in these activities as well.
Founded in 1933, the Academy is the preeminent provider of musculoskeletal education to orthopaedic surgeons and others in the world. Its continuing medical education activities include a world-renowned Annual Meeting, multiple CME courses held around the country and at the Orthopaedic Learning Center, and various medical and scientific publications and electronic media materials. Throughout the year, and every year, Dr. LaPrade contributes his time and resources to volunteering for these events and activities by presenting research at the annual meeting, making public his reseaerch findings, teaching, and providing medical students and the entire medical community with insight into the diagnoses and treatment into specific orthopaedic conditons.
