Understanding of posterior cuciate ligament (PCL) injuries of the knee has increased in large part because of a better understanding of the anatomy and biomechanics of the PCL and the posterolateral corner. More careful clinical evaluation of injury to these structures has resulted in earlier diagnosis and treatment, with new surgical techniques increasing the possibility of improved results.
