Dr. Robert LaPrade recently highlighted the importance of hands-on surgical education through an advanced knee osteotomy training lab designed to strengthen fellowship-level orthopedic training.
Sponsored by NewClip and hosted at the TCO Bioskills Lab in Eagan, the program provided sports medicine fellows with experience using patient-specific instrumentation for a variety of complex knee osteotomy procedures. Training included opening wedge distal femur and proximal tibial osteotomies, anterior closing wedge procedures, and derotation distal femoral osteotomies.
“Practice makes perfect,” said Dr. LaPrade. “Thanks to NewClip for sponsoring a full patient specific instrumentation knee osteotomy lab for opening wedge distal femur and proximal tibial, anterior closing wedge and derotation distal femoral osteotomies at the TCO Bioskills Lab in Eagan. Opportunities like this help our sports medicine fellows to be among the best trained fellows in North America.”
Dr. LaPrade remains committed to advancing orthopedic education and helping train the next generation of sports medicine specialists through innovative, hands-on learning experiences that enhance surgical skill development and patient care outcomes.
