Dr. Robert F. LaPrade, knee specialist with The Steadman Clinic in Vail, CO, and Chief Medical Officer for the Steadman Philippon Research Institute, has recently been awarded a Biologics Grant by the AOSSM Research Committee. Dr. LaPrade served as lead-author for the application and was assisted by a dedicated team of researchers from the Institute. Their topic, “Intratendinous injections of platelet‐poor plasma, or platelet rich plasma with or without leukocyte enrichment for patellar tendinopathy: a multi‐centre, double‐blind, randomized controlled trial,” was one of 15 received on the subject of PRP/biologics by the AOSSM committee. The amount provided for the study is $250,000, which will be disbursed every six months over a two-year period.
According to Dr. LaPrade, “As senior author for the grant, I feel very humbled and honored to be a part of this very important research project. This is a major honor for the Steadman Philippon Research Institute and along with my team of researchers, we thank everyone for their ongoing support in this very important project.”
