Robert LaPrade, MD, PhD has specialized skills and expertise in diagnosing and treating complicated knee injuries. He has treated athletes at all levels, including Olympic, professional and intercollegiate athletes, and has returned numerous athletes back to full participation after surgeries. Recognized globally for his outstanding and efficient surgical skills and dedication to sports medicine, he has received many research awards, including the OREF Clinic Research Award considered by many a Nobel Prize in orthopedics. Dr. LaPrade is one of the most published investigators in his field, and many of the surgeries that he has developed are now performed worldwide and recognized as the “gold standard” for the treatment of complex knee injuries.

Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction Failure and Revision Surgery: Current Concepts

Authors:

Santiago Pache, Juan Del Castillo, MD, Gilbert Moatshe, MD, Robert F LaPrade, MD

Abstract:

Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) is one of the most commonly performed procedures in orthopaedic sports medicine. Despite developments in understanding the anatomy and biomechanics of the knee joint, a fairly large subset of patients has ACLR […]

Knee Braces

Knee Braces

In order to optimize the healing process for many patients after a knee ligament injury, or to treat patients with malalignment and ipsilateral arthritis, knee braces are an essential component of ensuring that one achieves a maximal outcome.  Knee braces can be an effective means to maximize healing, both for nonoperative treatment after ligament […]

Matt Peters Overcomes a Complex Knee Injury

Not Just Your Average Teenager

mathMatt Peters was a typical teenager — before a complex knee injury took him away from the typical activities a vibrant 15-year old partakes in. Prior to meeting Dr. LaPrade and going through countless doctor’s visits and surgeries, Matt could easily […]

Anne Furgal’s ACL Reconstruction Surgery

Anne-FurgalThe words “traumatic” and “positive” generally are not associated within the same sentence.  That is, unless the one speaking is Anne Furgal.

After suffering from a massive knee injury in 2010, Anne underwent surgery at the hands of Dr. Robert LaPrade, orthopedic complex knee surgeon with The […]

Peripheral Stabilization Suture to Address Meniscal Extrusion in a Revision Meniscal Root Repair: Surgical Technique and Rehabilitation Protocol

Authors:

Robert S. Dean B.S, Nicholas N. DePhillipo M.S., A.T.C., O.T.C., Jill K. Monson P.T., O.C.S, Robert F. LaPrade, M.D., Ph.D.

Abstract:

Meniscal root tears are an increasingly recognized condition. These tears can cause the meniscus to become extruded outside the joint, which can diminish the biomechanical functionality of the meniscus. Anatomic repair of the meniscal root […]

Technique for Treatment of Subchondral Compression Fracture of the Lateral Femoral Condyle Associated With ACL Tear

Abstract:

Excessive knee pivoting that causes a complete anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear may result in a subchondral compression fracture on the lateral femoral condyle after impacting the lateral tibial condyle. Because this mechanism is similar to the humeral head that has an impact on the glenoid during an anterior shoulder dislocation, such an osteochondral […]
