Robert LaPrade, MD, PhD has specialized skills and expertise in diagnosing and treating complicated knee injuries. He has treated athletes at all levels, including Olympic, professional and intercollegiate athletes, and has returned numerous athletes back to full participation after surgeries. Recognized globally for his outstanding and efficient surgical skills and dedication to sports medicine, he has received many research awards, including the OREF Clinic Research Award considered by many a Nobel Prize in orthopedics. Dr. LaPrade is one of the most published investigators in his field, and many of the surgeries that he has developed are now performed worldwide and recognized as the “gold standard” for the treatment of complex knee injuries.

Combined Rip-Stop and Transtibial Pull-out Technique for Lateral Meniscus Radial Repairs

Authors:

Morgan D. Homan, D.O., Nicholas I. Kennedy, M.D., Christopher M. LaPrade, M.D., and Robert F. LaPrade, M.D., Ph.D.

Abstract:

Radial tears of the meniscus disrupt circumferential fibers that allow for the dispersion of axial tibiofemoral forces. Both nonoperative treatment and  meniscectomy carry increased risk of early-onset degeneration of the joint because of decreased contact surface […]

Jacob A. Braaten B.A., Mark T. Banovetz B.S., Marco C. Braaten B.S., Nicholas I. Kennedy M.D., Robert F. LaPrade M.D., Ph.D.

Abstract:

Purpose

To quantitatively determine whether there is an added risk of orthopaedic injury attributable to the collision forces that athletes participating in collision-contact (CC) sports regularly encounter.

PCL Stress Radiograph Technique

PCL Stress Radiographs

PCL stress radiographs are obtained to objectively determine the amount of increased posterior tibial translation in a patient that may have a possible PCL tear preoperatively and also to determine the postoperative surgical outcomes.  PCL stress radiographs can objectively measure  the amount of  increased posterior tibial translation on the injured knee compared to […]
