Effect of tibial positioning on the diagnosis of posterolateral rotatory instability in the posterior cruciate ligament-deficient knee
The purpose of this study was to determine whether the incidence of posterolateral knee injuries, as well as other concurrent knee ligament injuries, could be obtained from a prospective evaluation of magnetic resonance imaging scans in patients with an acute knee injury with a hemarthrosis.
The main static stabilizers of the medial knee are the superficial medial collateral and posterior oblique ligaments. A number of reconstructive techniques have been advocated including one we describe here. However, whether these reconstructions restore function and stability is unclear.
